Interim Director, Johnson Cancer Research Center

General description of position - The College of Arts & Sciences at Kansas State University invites applications and nominations for the position of Interim Director of the Terry C. Johnson Cancer Research Center (JCRC) to begin October 1, 2016. This will be a 0.5 FTE appointment expected to last approximately one year or until a permanent director is in place following a national search during the 2016-17 academic year. The mission of the JCRC is to advance the understanding of cancer by funding research, higher education, training and outreach. The interim director will continue the fundraising and outreach activities of the JCRC and provide leadership in its funding activities during FY 2017.

Job description - The successful applicant is expected to be a tenured faculty member in a department of the K-State College of Arts & Sciences. S/he will have demonstrated excellence in teaching and service; an appreciation of and achievement in scholarly research studies; a national reputation for scholarship in a field related to basic cancer research as broadly defined; and the ability to work effectively with faculty, students, and members of the general public. Other required qualifications are excellent interpersonal and communication skills, administrative and/or leadership experience, and familiarity with the work of the JCRC.
