I collaborate with K-State researchers to assist in studies of the pathogenesis (process of disease/progression) of different types of cancer. Currently, I'm collaborating with a researcher who is examining the therapeutic and preventative efficacy of certain drugs in a mouse model for prostate cancer in humans. My role involves tissue examination of cancer cells and using a process called immunohistochemistry to examine the expression patterns of different proteins in the tissue. In addition, tissues in which immunohistochemistry is applied will be examined with software that will determine qualitative expression of the specific proteins for a comparison among treatment groups to assist in assessment of the efficacy of the treatments.
