Interfacing nanocarbons with biological materials can play a critical role in biomedical applications such as cancer detection and treatment. Our team has developed efficient methods for controlled synthesis and processing of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and graphene, as well as coupling nanocarbons to a variety of nanostructures. Our goal is to seek collaborations with cancer researchers that would lead to a nanocarbon-based platform for cancer therapeutics. We intend to explore new ways to enhance the synergistic effects observed in targeted delivery when cancer drugs are combined with nanocarbons. The study will leverage data from AI and machine learning to guide nanomaterial design and functionalization with biological materials.
