"In order to support the fields of drug discovery and medicinal chemistry, we develop more efficient and selective catalytic tools for olefin metathesis, a transformation used in the synthesis of anti-cancer drugs. By using metals that are both less toxic and more sustainable than those currently employed, this work will facilitate the production of cheaper and safer pharmaceutical products. It will also benefit cancer research long-term by facilitating access to new medicinal targets and therapeutic agents."
