"In order to support the fields of drug discovery and medicinal chemistry, we develop more efficient and selective catalytic tools for olefin metathesis; a transformation used in the synthesis of anti-cancer drugs. By utilizing metals that are both less toxic and more sustainable than those currently employed, this work will facilitate the production of cheaper and safer pharmaceutical products. This research will also have long-term beneficial effects for cancer research by facilitating access to new medicinal targets and therapeutic agents."
