All life is based upon time- and space-restricted interactions between biomolecules. These interactions are critical for normal function of pathways, cells, tissues, and entire organisms, and their disruption--either by pathogenic, pathological, or pharmacological means--often results in dramatic changes to living systems. Our research is focused upon understanding the structural basis for molecular interactions and identifying new ways these interactions can be selectively and specifically inhibited. This type of structure-informed inhibitor design has a wide range of potential impacts on human heath, particularly in the areas of infectious disease, immune function, signaling and cancer.
